6170 Iraqi candidates contest in March poll

Baghdad, Feb.5 (AKnews) Spokesman of the Iraqi Electoral Commission said on Friday that the names of 6170 candidates were ratified to participate in the upcoming elections.
"The electoral commission approved on 6170 candidates after checking their files completely," adding that "those candidates that have been certified belong to different political entities ." Qasim Al Abboudi told the Independent National News agency of Kurdistan (AKnews).
“The electoral commission will announce the names of candidates that it had ratified on during the next two days."
The election commission delayed the beginning of electoral campaigning to the 12th of this month instead of 7 in order to allow the federal court to respond to the inquiry regarding the decisions of the discriminatory committee
