ERBIL, June 25 (AKnews) – Turkey has no intention of war because Syrian forces shot down one of its jets on Friday, however insisting on punishing Syria for that, Turkish media reported.
Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç has told a press conference that “ We have no intention of going to war with anyone. We have no such intent,"
The Deputy PM however said that proportionate retaliation and international sanctions were among steps Turkey might take against Syria, Today’s Zaman reported today.
“Everyone should know that we will do whatever the international law allows us to do” the newspaper quoted the Deputy PM as saying about the downing of the Turkish jet.
Arınç also rejected Syria’s account of the incident that Syrian forces could not identify the Turkish jet saying Syrian forces have also opened fire on a second Turkish jet that was searching for the wreckage of the downed jet.
