Kurdistan team loses in VIVA final

Milan-Italy, 28 June (AKnews) – The Kurdistan football team came second in the VIVA world cup for stateless regions after it was defeated 2-0 by Padania in Verona Stadium on Saturday.

The Kurdish team was playing defensively and the players seemed exhausted at the outset, however they missed many good opportunities.

The first half of the match finished with no goals, after Padania players attacked the Kurdish goal from both sides, but without success.

As soon as the second half started, the Kurdish attacker missed a great opportunity at the 46th minute.

Shortly afterwards, the Padanian attacker kicked the ball to the poles of the Kurdish goal at the 49th minute, but the ball went out.

The players of the Kurdistan team missed many more opportunities after the first quarter of the second half.

Then at the 71st minute, a Padanian attacker exploited a grave mistake on the part of the Kurdish defense and scored his team’s first goal.

Padania scored the second goal just two minutes after the first one, thus pushing the Kurdish coach to change his plan but regardless the game ended with a 2-0 result for Padania.

Imad Qadir, the Kurdistan team coach, cited the tiredness of his players as the main reason for the defeat. He said that his players had contested four matches in just five days and each stadium was 2-3 hours away from their accommodation.
