Asian Football Confederation signs up three Iraqi referees
08/02/2012 13:25BAGHDAD, Feb. 8 (AKnews) - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has nominated three Iraqi referees to manage matches in Asian next month.
Secretary of the referees department in the Iraqi Football Federation (IFF) Adel Qassab said the AFC signed up central referee Ali Sabah and assistant referee Luay Subhi to run the match taking place between the Al-Faisaly Jordanian team and the Omani Urouba team on March 3 in the AFC Champions League in Jordan.
The AFC also assigned Iraqi referee Hussein Turki to manage the AFC Challenge Cup that will be held in Nepal from March 8-19.
"The AFC has begun to rely heavily on Iraqi referees by assigning them to a number of international tournaments in light of the good level they [have shown] in several participations," said Qassab.
