Erbil, Mar. 6 (AKnews) –"Our nation is stepping towards a crucial event, so I call upon all of the sportsmen in Kurdistan Region to have an active participation in the election", says the president of Kurdistan Football Central Union Safin Kanabi.
"Kurdistan's sportsmen should take that into serious consideration. As the Kurdish power becomes stronger in the Iraqi parliament, the future of our clubs and teams will improve", Kanabi said. "The sportsmen's votes are as important as their goals".
The best Iraqi sport journalist for 2009, Saman Brifkani said that any Kurdish individual who loves his/her homeland should go to the ballots regardless of their voting choice.
"I step shoulder to shoulder with the Kurdistan's people towards the foothill of success, since we shouldn't forget the gains we have accomplished in assistance with the Kurdistan Regional Government, compared to the rest of Iraq", said Iraqi and Kurdistan Region's weightlifting champion, Swara Muhammad.
Iraq Vote to start on March 7-Sunday. 19 million people in 18 Iraqi provinces are entitled to elect 325 Iraqi parliament members, 82 of them would be women. One million and 900 thousand voters will cast ballots in 16 countries outside Iraq.
