ERBIL, July 15 (AKnews) – Residents in Kfri town in the Kurdistan Region
marched in the streets to condemn the town’s lack of public services.
Seven civil and community organizations organized the gathering, entitled Enough Ignorance of our Town.
In
a press conference the demonstrators pointed out their demands, such as
opening directorates in the town, other towns should not take their
shares, companies suspected of negligence or any misdeed should be
penalized, and land should be allocated for people in the town.
Firas Karim, one of the demonstrators, said: "Kfri mayor's unwelcome conduct is huge disrespect towards the town’s residents."
Gathering
organizer Zirak Ibrahim commented: "Our demands are basic and simple.
People in the town have a right to ask for public services and penalize
companies…"
Ibrahim added: "The mayor didn’t come to listen to
people's demands and moved out from his building in front of us. Thus we
ask Garmian administration to question him."
