No order for forming new force in disputed areas, says Peshmarga Ministry
10/07/2012 14:02ERBIL, July 10 (AKnews) – There is no order in any military authority in the Iraqi federal government for forming a new force under the name of East Dijla, said the secretary general of the Ministry of Peshmarga of the Kurdistan Region.
Major general Jabbar
Yawar denied the news and said there is Diyala Operations Command in Diyala
province, which commands the province military and security activities.
Lieutenant general Abdul Amir Zaidi is the commander of the operation
command.
Yawar said the truth is that there was news that Iraq's Ministry of Defense, especially the commander of Iraqi troops, suggested to add 12 division of the Iraqi army to Diyala Operation Command - the brigades of which are close to the Kirkuk border - and for the command headquarters to be transferred to Ashraf Camp and to be named East Dijla Operation Command with the same commander (Zaidi).
Kirkuk’s governor said in press conference: "Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki told him that forming East Dijla force was only a suggestion and promised him not to form it.”
