Maliki agrees to reinstate former Diyala officers, says MP07/07/2012 19:50
ERBIL, July 7 (AKnews) – A Diyala-based Iraqi MP said Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has agreed to reinstate former officers of the province to serve in the Ministry of Defense units.
Nahida al-Dayni said in a statement: "Maliki agreed to the return of former officers and specialized committees will be set up to oversee the return of former officers to the service."
The Coalition Provisional Authority, headed by Paul Bremer, dissolved the Iraqi army after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
In the meeting of the Council of Ministers in Mosul at the end of last month Maliki, who is also Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, asked to form a committee to reinstate the former officers in the province.
