Maliki agrees to reinstate former Diyala officers, says MP

ERBIL, July 7 (AKnews) – A Diyala-based Iraqi MP said Prime Minister
Nouri al-Maliki has agreed to reinstate former officers of the province
to serve in the Ministry of Defense units.

al-Dayni said in a statement: "Maliki agreed to the return of former
officers and specialized committees will be set up to oversee the return
of former officers to the service."
The Coalition Provisional Authority, headed by Paul Bremer, dissolved the Iraqi army after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
In
the meeting of the Council of Ministers in Mosul at the end of last
month Maliki, who is also Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, asked
to form a committee to reinstate the former officers in the province.
