BAGHDAD, June 26 (AKnews)- The recent remarks by the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will negatively reflect on himself and will only strengthen the solidarity of the MPs, a Kurdish lawmaker said.

Muhsin al-Sadoun, muhsin saadunYesterday the PM pointed the finger at the House of Representatives, stressing he should not be interrogated or stripped off from confidence "unless the situation of the legislative system is corrected."

The House has supervisory and legislative authorities and this "big attack" on the legislative authority convoys more than "a question mark," said Mohsen Saadun in reference to Maliki's remarks.

Saadun continued the PM is accusing the House of "being kidnapped" and of evading its responsibilities and is threatening to dissolve the House.

"These remarks are made while there is a call to sack the House speaker [Osama al-Nujaifi …. I believe such positions and remarks give Maliki an opposite effect," Saadun said.

By virtue of article 49 of 2007 for replacing the MPs, one-third of the MPs (109) should submit a petition before taking official procedures for sacking the House speaker.

Saadun said  Maliki's recent remarks will only "create more solidarity inside the House of Representatives". He thought even those blocs who do not side withdrawing confidence from Maliki's government will support the House against such accusations.

"One authority cannot dominate another in this way," the Kurdish MP said.

Kurds, the Shiite Sadr Current and the Sunni-dominated Iraqiya List are trying to replace Maliki, who is labeled by their leaders as a "dictator."

After a signature campaign for withdrawing confidence from Maliki failed, the MPs are now setting the stage for interrogation Maliki over constitutional violations and hope to be able to oust him.

When the efforts to withdraw confidence from government intensified, Maliki's State of Law Coalition (SLC) warned it will also arrange for withdrawing confidence from Nujaifi, a leader in the Iraqiya List.
