Kurdistan deputy PM meets British consul in Erbil

ERBIL, May 17 (AKnews) - Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Imad Ahmed met with UK consul general in Erbil Chris Power to discuss ways of developing relations between the UK and the region.   

Imad AhmedBoth sides talked about the political situation in Iraq and suggested solving the country's issues in accordance with Iraq's constitution and the interests of Iraqis, said the KRG's website.

Power confirmed his work to strengthen the UK-Kurdistan Region tie and continue to maintain strong relations with the KRG.

He said: "During the last two years, UK companies investment in the Kurdistan Region has reached $1bn (1.1tr IQD) and this goes back to the regional government policies for a providing healthy and sufficient atmosphere for investment."   

Deputy head of the KRG's department of foreign relations Karwan Jamal Tahir also attended the meeting.
