Kirkuk- Yumurtalık oil pipeline exploded
21/06/2012 13:47ERBIL, June 21 (AKnews)- Kirkuk- Yumurtalık pipeline was exploded today morning in the southeastern Turkey, Kurdish Firat news agency reported.
The explosion took place near the village of Mağara in the region between Şırnak and Mardin, two Kurdish dominated areas of Turkey.
It is said that the pipeline was exploded as a construction vehicle passed by the area.
No more details were given.
The pipeline is located in the region which is the scene of bloody confrontations between the Kurdistan rebels of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Turkish army.
The confrontations between PKK rebels and soldiers in the past three days have intensified.
In 1984 PKK began armed struggle for autonomy of millions of Kurds in Turkey as well as their ethnic rights. The fight has claimed the lives of more than 45,000 individuals, including civilians.
