ERBIL, May 20 (AKnews)- The High Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq (IHEC) will meet with the entire blocs to the Kurdistan Region Parliament tomorrow to discuss obstacles of September voting.
As scheduled the IHEC will conduct the process on Sept.27. However, there are fears that the voting for election of the provincial councils in Kurdistan may be postponed.
In the two-day meeting the obstacles related to the IHEC and those related to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will be discussed, said Sardar Abdul-Kareem.
Abdul-Kareem said that so far the members of the new electoral commission have not been chosen and the elections bill has not be ratified.
As for the obstacles related to the KRG, Abdul-Kareem said the government has not sanctioned the estimated funds for running the process.
