Kalar directorate car explodes
08/02/2012 16:48GARMIYAN, Feb. 8 (AKnews) - A car belonging to the Kalar directorate for investigating violence against women was torched last night following a grenade explosion.
Kalar police spokesman Sarbarz Omar said that at 23.00 last night police were informed that a Navarra car was on fire following an explosion. Four policemen of the directorate and the driver of the car have been arrested.
Police and fire fighters controlled the fire and there were no human causalities.
Omar was unable to comment further.
AKnews tried to reach Col. Adnan Mohammed, director of the women's center in Kalar, but he did not reply the calls.
Kalar is in the center of the Garmiyan area around the city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq. The Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government established directorates for investigating violence against women in the three provinces of Kurdistan as well as the Garmiyan area, the ownership of which is disputed between Baghdad and Erbil.
