New measure to protect trees in Erbil

Erbil, Mar. 14 (AKnews) – The Directorate of Forestry has taken a new measure to protect trees from drying due to lack of water and to keep green areas in Kurdistan Region by planning trees in all government offices and schools where water is available.
“We have taken a new plan to plant trees in the government offices and schools to protect them from drought,” Director of Rawanduz office, north of Erbil city, Suleiman Abdullah said Sunday.
Abdullah said many trees had dried due to drought in the recent years in Rawanduz area.
Moreover, the directorate has specified several near-water locations to plant trees, according Mayor of Rawanduz, Shaho Karim concluded.
