ERBIL, August 25 (AKnews) – The head of finance and economy in Diyala
Provincial Council has confirmed increased trade between the province
and the Kurdistan Region.
Jalil Ibrahim said: "Closeness in the
crossings in the Kurdistan Region from Syria and Turkish roads and from
Diyala province and the low cost of trade exchange between them have
contributed in the increase of imported goods in the Kurdistan Region.
"Importing
goods from the Kurdistan Region is easier and lower cost than importing
goods from the crossings of the southern provinces.
"Overlap and
national and administrative cohesion between Diyala and Kurdistan
revived the province's economy and reflected positively on the economic
reality in the province."
Ibrahim expressed the council's
willingness to facilitate trade movement via the Kurdistan Region for
all traders and business people inline with the interests of the
province.
Politicians attribute Diyala province’s poor economy to insecurity and increasing violence in the province.
