Deputy PM to head economic delegation to Tehran

ERBIL, August 13 (AKnews) – Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister
Rojh Nouri Shawais will visit Tehran on Tuesday along with an economic
delegation, said Iraq’s ambassador to Iran.
IRNA reported a
statement from Mohammed Majeed Shekhallah saying that a high-profile
Iraqi delegation would visit Tehran next week, including Economy
Minister Rafia al-Isawai, Trade Minister Kherullah Hassan Babakir,
Industry Minister Ahmed Nasir and the governor of the Iraqi Central Bank
Mohammed Riza.
The official said: "Both sides will discuss
opening an Iraqi bank in Iran as a move to improve economic and trade
relations between the two parties."
In the meeting, the two sides will also talk about Iraq's debt to Iran from importing Iranian electricity.
The volume of Iraq-Iran trade reached $7bn last year.
