Official: 11% of Iraqis live under poverty line
21/06/2012 11:30EERBIL, June 21 (AKnews)- 11% of the Iraqi population lives under the poverty line while 16% are unemployed, deputy minister of Iraqi social affairs said.
Most of the people who live under poverty line reside in Naseriya and some other southern Iraqi provinces, said Dara Yara.
Yara added some 16% of the total population is unemployed and there are 700,000 families which have no source of income.
According to the official the Ministry of Social Affairs with the assistance of Central Bank of Iraq supports these families financially until they find jobs.
These families each get 70,000 IQD (almost $60) per capital monthly for the provision of their food.
