BAGHDAD, March 15 (AKnews) - The Iraqi Central Bank (ICB) announced yesterday that its sales of US dollars rose to $244m from $234m on Tuesday.

Deputy governor of the ICB Muzher Mohammed Saleh said the price of the dollar was 1179 IQD at an interest rate of up to 10 dinars.

Saleh called on the owners of exchange shops to adopt the new mechanism put forward by the bank in selling the hard currency as a way to prevent its smuggling out of the country due to the crises that countries in the Middle East are witnessing.

The rate of sale of the ICB reached $300m on January 11 for the first time in years.
