KIRKUK, Feb. 21 (AKnews) – The first international trades fair has been opened in the oil-rich Kirkuk city, north east of Baghdad, with dozens of foreign companies participating.
The three-day trade fair that was opened by Kirkuk governor Najmaddin Karim on Tuesday brought together about 100 foreign and local companies.
Kamil Salayi, mayor of Kirkuk, told AKnews that “This is really exciting to see an international fair in Kirkuk.. We will try to have another one, but bigger, in the next couple of years”
The multi-ethnic oil-rich Kirkuk has been one of the unstable provinces of Iraq since the ouster of Saddam Hussein in 2003.
