ERBIL, July 21 (AKnews)- A name ban has been imposed on a cultural center and 19 parks in Turkey  due to their Kurdish origin and containing letters from foreign languages, Firat news agency said.

The name of Kayapınar Youth and Cultural Center which was opened in 2009 was replaced by the Kurdish names Cegerxwin Youth and Cultural Center the same year.

The Governor’s Office of Kayapınar began legal proceedings to suspend the name change on the pretext that the name didn’t comply with the Turkish language.

The legal proceeding paved the ground for Diyarbakır 1st Administrative Court to impose a ban on the names of Cegerxwin Youth and Cultural Center and 19 park areas in the city.

The band was based on official procedures which require naming streets and areas in the Turkish language and in accordance with constitutional legislations.

The banned names of the mentioned parks are; Zembilroş Park, 33 Bullets Park, Derwêşê Ewdi Park, Nefel Park, Daraşin Park, Bêzar Park, Ciwan Park, Sosin Park, Jiyanan Azad Park, Aşîtî Park, Yek Gûlan Park, Beybun Park, Şilan Park, Roşna Park, Rojbîn Park, Rojda Park, Berfîn Park and Roşan Park.
