Iraqi Writers' Union to host critic and poet Jamal Jasim Amin

ERBIL, July 12 (AKnews) - The Iraqi Writers' Union is preparing to host critic and poet Jamal Jassim Amin as part of the Thursday creative forum held for Iraqi writers, poets, and intellectuals.

Union spokesman Ibrahim al-Khayyat said: "The union is keen to pay attention to the prominent names found in the provinces that have a remarkable cultural impact in Iraq.

"Poet Jawahiri was from Najaf, however, he was named the great poet of Arabs and his poetic works spread to Arab countries and he had an impact on many Arab intellectuals who tried to follow his poetic style.

"Amin will present a summary about his life and his poetic and critical experience and he is the owner of the literary initiative in the Amara city by issuing Amara magazine which is now well known in the provinces, and there is debate about it and critics and poets will talk about it. Amin became well-known in 2010 when he read a famous poem (Hamad)."

With regard to the most prominent critics who will speak about the experience of the poet Amin, Khayyat said: "The most prominent critics who will speak about Aim's experience are Ali Fawaz and Mohammed Alwan Jabar in addition to the audience. Amin will be awarded the Jawahiri's watch and the union's award."
