Kurdish Festival for short fillms in Sulamaniyah addresses women issues

Sulaimaniyah, Mar. 11 (AKnews) – A Kurdish film festival Tawar Sulaimaniyah city is planning to show 80 short films dealing with women issues in Kurdistan in its 3rd anniversary, a source at the festival organization staff sad Thursday.
“We have planned to take into consideration the international standards to screen some of the foreign short films alongside with the local ones in the upcoming festival,” Shokhan Mahmoud of Tawar Festival said.
The submitted short films will be assessed for awards in best scenario, filming, directing, best actor and actress, provided that the short films must deal with women issues and sufferings in the Kurdish society,” Mohammed added.
The festival is due to take place on Apr. 4, after it was postponed from Marc. 8 due to Iraqi parliamentary polls.
The Tawar Short Film Festival which is an annual festival, is dedicated to the daily problems of the Kurdish women in its this year program which is supported by the Kurdistan Women Association in Sulaimaniyah.
